Good morning and happy Saturday. This is a brief, holiday edition of the Saturday Post from the Purple Catholic.
Remember to pray for those who have given their life for our country this weekend as we celebrate Memorial Day. In my diocese, and in dioceses around the US, Masses will be said at cemeteries and in parishes for all those who defended our country and our allies.
Sixth Sunday of Easter
Tomorrow is the Sixth Sunday of Easter. At Mass we will hear Acts 15:1-2, 22-29; Psalm 67; Revelation 12:10-14, 22-23; and John 14:23-29
Here is a calendar for the rest of the week:
Monday, 26 May - Memorial of St. Philip Neri, priest
Tuesday, 27 May - Memorial of St. Augustine of Canterbury, bishop (optional)
Thursday, 29 May* - Memorial of St. Paul VI, pope (optional)
Saturday, 31 May - Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
*The ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, New Jersey, and Omaha celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension on Thursday. In those places, Thursday is a Holy Day of Obligation. In the rest of the United States, the Solemnity of the Ascension will be celebrated next Sunday.
If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
John 14:23
